A big rig came up behind her husband, tried to change lanes, and hit the side of his car, causing it to spin around. Then the big rig hit it two more times, causing the husband’s car to fly off the highway and go down a hill where it eventually was stopped by some trees.
Fortunately, her husband lived through it, and this person was worried about the car. They wanted to get a similar car. Apparently, they had a Cadillac 2009 CTS, as mentioned here, and they’re wondering if the insurance company going to give them enough money so that they can get a replacement car similar to the one they had.
Well, the insurance company is going to look at the value of that car at the time of the crash, and one way to do that is to look at the used car market to see what comparable cars are being sold for or on Kelley Blue Book. That’s something you can do.
Also if there were upgrades to the car, you need to let the insurance company know and show proof of the upgrades, which could increase the amount of money that they could get. They could also ask for things like loss of use, which is the rental equivalent of the car, as well as taxes, license, etc.
Since it was such a bad crash, they should also make sure her husband gets checked out by a medical provider because he sounds like he probably got hurt.
