Unfortunately, judges and commissioners of small claims court are like anybody else, and they will judge you based on how you look. If you come in with a giant middle finger t-shirt and underneath that it says, “F this court,” the judge is likely not going to treat you with respect or take your claim seriously. (Think Larry Flynt except you are not making a free speech argument). Your best bet is to dress conservatively and wear what I call business casual, which is a button down shirt, slacks, and shoes. I don’t recommend wearing shorts, sandals, tank tops, baseball hats, et cetera.
What should I wear to the small claims hearing?
